Brief Synopsis

When the group interrupts a group of demonic cultists, a spell goes awry and turns Drake into a human being. The group is suspicious, and as it turns out, they should be: Draco, Drake's vampiric personna, appears in town as well. Worse, Drake seems to be suffering from bouts of amnesia during the periods that Draco is active.

While dealing with this crisis, the group must rescue a young girl named Jeanine from the same demons whose spell transformed Drake; unfortunately, Draco is on the scene as well, having been hired by a mysterious dark sorcerer who wants Jeanine for his own purposes. Both the group and Draco are defeated in the end by none other than Wolfram and Hart, who have opened a new branch in the Steel City. Wolfram and Hart use legal means to declare Jeanine a ward of the firm, and the group has little choice but to surrender custody.

To make matters even more complicated, a new player arrives on the scene: Slim, a (human) spirit who seemingly possesses dead bodies and fights the forces of evil. The group is somewhat doubtful of Slim's role, because it was none other than their old nemesis Nyarlathotep who sent Slim to them. Still, they feel that Slim's intentions are sound and have welcomed him to the team.

Great Quotes:

Drake: Tea?
Anita: Coffee.
Drake: No, Tea.
Anita: Tea is soothing, I want to be tense.
Drake: Have some tea, then I'll slap you and you'll be tense.

Slim: I was sent by someone I think is a mutual friend. I'm afraid I can't give you his name, or even describe him, though...
Anita: Oh. That friend. He's not my friend. Don't call him my friend. That makes me upset.
Slim: Sorry, ma'am.
Cyan: He called you "ma'am!"

Cyan: Friend? Oh! You mean Nyarlath--
Anita: SHH! I won't hit you, but I will hit him (points to Slim.)

Anita: Do you have any skills?
Slim: Well I play guitar.
Anita: Forces of evil, beware.

(Anita sees through Necromancy that Slim is in the wrong body)
Anita: So...you're driving someone else's car, aren't you?
Slim: You could say that.
Anita: What happened to the owner?
Slim: Dunno, ma'am. This car was wrecked when I found it.
Anita: So what you're saying is...
Slim: I drive abandoned cars.
Cyan: And where's your car?
Slim: Probably dirt by now.

Anita: Great! Our strongest fighter is now a weak, plain old human.
Drake: Yes! And this is a good thing!

Drake (to John, on phone): I need to find a girl, about 16, long, red hair.
John: Drake, in this era that's illegal.
(later)
Drake: We need to find this girl. She's about 16.
Cyan: That's not legal, Drake. She needs to be at least 18.
Drake (exasperated): It never seemed to matter what the age was before! We always saved them anyway!
Group (sudden realization): Oh! You mean to rescue!

Anita (Re: Slim): He does kung fu, and playes the blues.

John (to Det. Knonaem, re: Wolfram and Hart): They're evil, Joe. And not in a French kind of way.

(after Draco double-crosses them and vanishes, John calls Drake's cell phone)
John: Drake, where are you.
Drake (disoriented and confused): Um...Anita's.
John: How the hell did you get there so fast?
Drake: I walked.
John: You were just at the Bottom's up club. It's miles away.
Drake: The Bottom's what?
John: The strip club, Drake.
Drake: I don't know what you're talking about. I was sleeping...I think.
John: So you mean to tell me you weren't...that we...Son of a Bitch!!
(John smashes his phone off the walls of a van and sinks to the floor)
John: Played. I can't frigging believe we got played.

(after rescuing Jeanine)
Cyan: There. We got her. Happy?
John: Of course. We saved the innocent. We still got played.

Drake (to Anita): I don't understand how all those contraptions in your kitchen work. Like the box of minute rice. I waited a minute...it was still rice.

Drake: I don't understand you people. For four hundred years I've walked this world as a monster, an inhuman creature, a horrible thing. Now I'm human again, alive, and you all keep treating it like it's some kind of curse!
Anita: Drake, are you foolish enough to think that after all the horrible things you've done, someone would just hand you a gift like this...for free?

Cop: We're going to have to ask you to turn over the girl. If you resist I'm going to have to arrest you.
John: Define "resist."

John (to Anita on phone): Wolfram and Hart showed up with paperwork and cops. They took the girl.
Anita: ...
John: You just tell me and I'll get enough explosives to bring that whole building down.
Anita:...
John: Unless you think they'd just magic it back up tomorrow.
Anita: They probably would.

Great moments:

When fighting demon cultists, everyone pulls out swords and knives...but Anita chooses to go all George Forman.

Drake becomes a living, breathing human being!

The group welcomes a new member: Slim!

Draco (Drake's vampire half) uses his emotional manipulation powers to convince Cyan to leave him alone with the girl the group wants to rescue. He discovers (the hard way) that the girl is WAY stronger, faster, and tougher than she should be when she hits him, then accepts a hit from him, leaps into the street and grabs the back of a box truck to escape.

John cracks when he figures out that Draco has played the group into thinking he was Drake. He recovers when they still manage to rescue Jeanine.

Wolfram and Hart flexes their muscles for the first time.
